Buzz Audio SOC-M: optical precision for analog mastering

The Buzz Audio SOC-M is the dedicated mastering version of the famous SOC-20. Designed for high-precision mastering applications, it features jerky Elma controls for DRIVE and OUTPUT, ensuring total repeatability. Ratio curves are optimized for use in mastering and retain the "soft knee" feature for musical, controlled compression.

Analog mid-side for complete stereo image control

The SOC-M is not only a stereo compressor, but includes an analog Mid-Side encoder/decoder that allows the Mid and Side components of the signal to be processed separately. A very powerful function for mastering that allows surgical interventions on spatiality and dynamics.

Advanced side chain control with insert and filter

The side chain section includes a 170Hz high-pass filter (12dB/octave) to reduce low-frequency sensitivity, as well as a balanced insert point for external EQ or creative sidechain compression. Monitor function allows you to hear the processed signal in the side chain or Mid/Side signals in MS mode.

Musical stereo compression with step controls

The side chain differential circuit works on the positive and negative waveforms separately, controlling a BE45 optical attenuator. There are 5 attack settings, 6 release settings, and 5 compression ratios, all with soft knee characteristics. AUTO modes ensure an adaptive musical response to the audio material.
