The Rupert Neve Designs 5046 OptoFET is an extremely versatile analog compressor that combines a next-generation FET circuit with an optimized optical compressor, offering unprecedented dynamic and tonal control. Designed for professional studios, music production and mastering, it is an advanced solution for those seeking precision and distinctive sonic character.
In Dual Stage mode, the FET and OPTO compressors work in series to provide complete dynamic control over even the most complex sources. In Dual Band mode, on the other hand, each compressor acts on a specific frequency band, allowing independent management of bass and treble for an extremely musical and precise result.
The FET compressor provides extremely fast attack times and precise high frequency response, while the optical circuit generates low-order harmonics with softer, more musical timing. This combination allows you to shape the sound with great flexibility while maintaining an authentic analog character.
GRIT mode turns the FET compressor into a powerful wave shaper, introducing harmonic distortion focused on high frequencies, ideal for bringing out a source in the mix. BLOOM mode, on the other hand, enriches low frequencies with warm, round harmonics, enhancing sound depth without the need for EQ.
With Blend control for parallel compression, global input and output trims, and the ability to reverse the order of the compressors, the 5046 OptoFET fits perfectly into any scenario: tracking, live, mixing, mastering, and sound design. By using two units in dual mono, even complex stereo and bus signals can be worked on effectively.
