SOMA Laboratory DVINA Graphite: essential electroacoustic synthesis

DVINA Graphite is the first electroacoustic instrument developed by SOMA Laboratory, designed to blend Eastern musical tradition and contemporary sound experimentation. Inspired by classical Indian and Persian instruments, DVINA offers a unique approach to performance through a completely different sound generation system than traditional electric instruments.

The special Graphite finish gives the instrument an elegant and contemporary aesthetic, enhancing the minimalist design and materiality of solid wood. Designed for experimental musicians, sound designers and electronic performers, DVINA Graphite integrates seamlessly into modern creative setups.

Direct magnetic transduction and crystal clear sound

The heart of the SOMA DVINA Graphite is its innovative electromagnetic transduction system. Strings vibrate within a magnetic field generated by a powerful neodymium magnet placed in the neck, directly producing an electrical signal without using conventional pickups.

Clean signal for effects and sound design

The generated signal is amplified through a custom transformer built into the body of the instrument, operating similar to that of a ribbon microphone. The result is extremely clean, dynamic and quiet audio that is ideal for processing with effects pedals, amplifiers, mixers or professional audio interfaces.

Minimalist design in Graphite finish

DVINA Graphite is made from a single piece of solid wood, available in woods such as ash, beech or oak. The Graphite finish emphasizes the technical and contemporary look of the instrument while keeping the natural character of the wood visible.

Essential and functional construction

Each structural element of DVINA has a precise function, and no part can be removed without compromising its function. The instrument includes strap supports and is designed to offer maximum ergonomics during live performances and experimental sessions.

Available Versions: Serial and Custom

DVINA Graphite is available in both the Serial version, produced in small limited batches, and the Custom version made to order. The Serial version comes with a semi-rigid case, while the Custom allows for custom configurations, including left-handed variants, exclusive colors, and dedicated carrying accessories.
