Virtual Orchestra Instrument Collection
The Dreamtonics Orchestral Essentials Collection brings high-end orchestral realism directly to your studio, thanks to Instrument X in the Essential Edition 8. The collection includes Instrument X along with 8 fixed orchestral instrument expansions: Orchestral Violin 1, Orchestral Viola 1, Orchestral Cello 1, Orchestral Double Bass 1, Orchestral Flute 1, Orchestral Oboe 1, Orchestral Trumpet 1 (Bb), and Orchestral French Horn 1—for a polished, ready-to-use baseline setup.
To ensure complete mixing flexibility, Instrument X utilizes up to 11 simultaneous microphone feeds, ranging from close-spot and Decca tree configurations to room ambience. Maintaining phase coherence and structure across so many channels has traditionally been a challenge for standard neural network-based audio synthesis approaches. Dreamtonics overcomes this limitation with a patented algorithm: by measuring the studio’s acoustic geometry using a custom dodecahedral speaker array, the physics-augmented neural networks learn to separate the room’s directional acoustics from the dry instrumental source.
The engine runs entirely locally on a standard laptop, requiring neither an internet connection nor a dedicated GPU, while still delivering the true spatial depth and dynamic nuances of a real recording session—all within a carefully curated selection of 8 essential instrumental expansions.
Instrument X does away with complex keyswitch maps: articulations are automatically assigned based on note pitch and duration, allowing you to compose symphonic pieces with a human-like sound directly within your DAW. The Microphone Mixer Panel lets you shape the acoustic perspective by easily balancing close-spot mics, Decca trees, and ambient pairs, keeping high-quality orchestral instruments on your local drive without running out of storage space.
With Instrument X, there’s no longer any risk of overlapping notes cutting each other off: you can compose dense, evolving chords and complex harmonies within a single track editor window, which scales naturally and allows the sound to resonate fluidly. By combining continuous microtonal glides and detailed volume automation, you can infuse even electronic tracks with tactile realism, rounding out your software setup alongside Synthesizer V and Vocoflex.
Sound designers can blend physical acoustics and electronic tracks using continuous microtonal glides and loudness automation, combine specialized techniques such as col legno or muting for brass on a single note to create complex hybrid textures, and evolve notes continuously from an intimate whisper to an aggressive growl within a single, uninterrupted sonic arc.
