The Expressive E Osmose 61 CE is an MPE expressive MIDI controller featuring a 61-key multidimensional keyboard. Designed for musicians, composers, and producers who want to go beyond conventional controls, it allows you to shape every note through natural, nuanced physical gestures.
Each key responds individually to velocity, pressure, aftertouch, pitch bend, vibrato, pressure glide, strum, and expressive release. This technology allows you to control software instruments, MPE plugins, and MIDI setups with a level of detail comparable to that of acoustic instruments.
The 61-key version offers a wider range than the 49-key model, making it particularly well-suited for complex arrangements, piano parts, orchestrations, live performances, and compositions that require a greater keyboard range.
The Osmose 61 CE allows you to control each played note separately. Thanks to the MPE protocol, velocity, pitch, and timbre can vary independently within the same chord, offering expressive possibilities that are difficult to achieve with a traditional MIDI keyboard.
The musician can shape the sound directly through touch, without interrupting the performance to use wheels, joysticks, or external controllers. The keyboard thus becomes a natural extension of the hands.
The Osmose 61 CE’s keyboard was developed entirely by Expressive E to offer a precise and musical response. Each key detects different movements and pressure levels, transforming them into expressive parameters that can be used with compatible instruments.
The 61 keys allow you to play longer passages without having to frequently change octaves. This configuration is ideal for pianists, keyboardists, composers, and musicians working with complex arrangements or orchestral instruments.
The keyboard detects initial touch, progressive pressure, and aftertouch. These gestures can control volume, dynamics, filter width, intensity, articulation, and numerous other sound parameters.
The lateral movement of the keys allows you to apply independent pitch bend and vibrato to each note. This makes it possible to modify a single voice within a chord without affecting the others.
The Osmose 61 CE recognizes advanced gestures such as Shake, Strum, and expressive release. These functions allow you to create more realistic articulations and control string instruments, woodwinds, synthesizers, and physically modeled sounds in great detail.
The MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) protocol allows you to transmit independent information for each note. The Osmose 61 CE leverages this technology to offer precise polyphonic control over pitch, velocity, and timbre.
Each note in a chord can have its own pitch movement, different intensity, and dedicated timbral variation. This allows you to create dynamic harmonies, evolving textures, and more natural phrasing.

Expressive E Osmose 61 CE includes Ctrl-e, a software ecosystem developed to maximize the potential of the multidimensional keyboard. The platform offers over 900 presets designed to respond to the musician’s expressive gestures.
The library includes a wide selection of ready-to-play sounds. Each preset is optimized to respond to velocity, pitch bend, vibrato, and the other multidimensional controls available on the keyboard.
The content of the Ctrl-e ecosystem is also created through collaborations with companies such as KiloHearts, Dawesome, Applied Acoustics Systems, GForce, Vital, and Synapse Audio.
Each preset features eight macros already assigned to the most important parameters. Musicians can thus quickly modify the character of the sound without having to perform complex manual configurations.
The ecosystem includes proprietary tools developed to fully leverage the expressive response of the Osmose 61 CE.
Soliste is dedicated to physically modeled solo string instruments. The keyboard allows you to control dynamics, articulation, vibrato, and intensity through natural finger movements.
Noisy 2 is a dual-layer noise-based synthesizer. Its architecture allows you to create complex, organic timbres that respond to Osmose’s multidimensional controls.
Osmose 61 CE features a built-in MPE arpeggiator in which each note remains independent and responsive in real time. The musician can adjust pressure, dynamics, and pitch even while the sequence is playing.
Unlike a traditional arpeggiator, the system preserves the expressive variations applied to individual notes. Arpeggios can therefore evolve continuously during a performance.
The arpeggiator can be used with both MPE-compatible instruments and within standard MIDI setups, offering greater versatility in the studio and on stage.
The Press Glide function allows you to create smooth transitions based on the pressure applied to the keys. This technology can be used to link notes, modify timbre, or generate gradual variations during performance.
Modulations are performed directly on the keyboard. The musician can therefore keep both hands on the keys and control the sound without interrupting the phrasing.
The Osmose 61 CE features dedicated controls for DAW management. These functions are designed to reduce the need for a mouse and keep the musician focused on performance and composition.
The controller offers integration with Live 12+, Cubase 15+, Bitwig 5+, and Logic Pro 12rl+, allowing you to manage key operations directly from the hardware.

The Osmose 61 CE features seven knobs or encoders, nine buttons, and a 4.3-inch color LCD screen. The interface provides quick access to settings and clearly displays key information.
