Within the PRO X series, they serve as the all-around model: they bridge the gap between the recording-focused DT 770 PRO and the analytical approach of the DT 990 PRO, combining the isolation needed for recording with a response that’s neutral and detailed enough to work with confidence even during the mixing phase.
The DT 700 PRO X’s sound signature is precise, controlled, and consistent. It allows you to follow complex arrangements, make detailed edits, and make reliable mixing decisions—even when working in a room that isn’t perfectly treated or away from your studio. A reference headphone that sounds the same from the recording session to the final bounce helps you avoid surprises when switching to your studio monitors.
The closed-back design provides 20 dB(A) of ambient noise attenuation. In a recording session, this offers two concrete advantages: the musician hears their mix through the headphones without distractions, and the headphone signal does not feed back into the microphone—even during close-miking of a vocal or acoustic instrument.
At the heart of the DT 700 PRO X is the STELLAR.45 dynamic driver, developed and manufactured by Beyerdynamic in Heilbronn. It combines a neodymium ring magnet with a copper-clad wire voice coil, which optimizes the balance between weight and electrical conductivity. The three-layer diaphragm with integrated damping precisely controls the movement of the voice coil: the result is well-defined transients, a fast response, and clean sound reproduction even at high sound pressure levels, with harmonic distortion of just 0.04% at 1 kHz.
With a nominal impedance of 48 ohms and a sensitivity of 114 dB SPL (1 V / 500 Hz), the DT 700 PRO X achieves adequate listening levels without the need for a dedicated amplifier. You can use them with your studio’s audio interface, as well as with laptops, tablets, and smartphones, maintaining the same sound reference no matter where you work.
The harmonic steel headband ensures stable, evenly distributed contact pressure of 5.3 N, while the soft velvet ear cups remain breathable even after hours of listening. The memory foam padding on the headband adapts to the shape of your head, ensuring comfort that doesn’t wane during even the longest sessions.
Hand-assembled in Germany, the DT 700 PRO X combines a metal headband, GRP components, rugged connectors, and long-lasting wiring. Nearly all parts are replaceable—including the ear cups and headband padding—so the headphones can last for years. The detachable cable with a lockable mini-XLR connector also allows you to adjust the cable length to suit any setup and replace it in seconds if it wears out.
