Analog channel strip with dynamic EQ, two-stage compression and digital recall
Elysia channex|studio is a Class A analog channel strip with full recall, designed to give you an already "mix-ready" signal right from recording. It combines high-end preamp, dynamic equalizer, compression and limiting, zero-latency monitoring section and advanced routing features, all with a modern workflow thanks to control and recall settings even via plug-in inside your DAW session.
The philosophy of channex|studio is simple: if the quality of the recording is already very high, the mix becomes faster and easier. That's why elysia has developed a complete front-end that allows you to sculpt dynamics and timbre in a musical way already in tracking, maintaining a totally analog behavior but with digital recall convenience.
At the heart of the device is a DC-coupled microphone preamplifier with up to 64 dB of gain, designed to properly drive any microphone. Shell Precision Metering makes level setting easy, while adjustable high-pass filter, polarity reversal (with sustained pressure) and +48V phantom complete an input section ready for any session. Hi-Z input is accessible on the front and line input on the back (XLR/TRS combo). In addition, gain settings are saved for each input and automatically recalled when changing sources.
The EQ section includes 4 bands (bass, two selectable mids, treble) with frequency and gain control via Shell controllers. You can set the Q for each band and enable shelf behavior on low and high. The distinguishing point is the ability to make each band dynamic-a typical plug-in approach, here implemented in hardware. An intelligent gain function makes the dynamics react to the level in the set band, regardless of the input level, while metering shows EQ intensity and activity.
Recording with compression can be tricky: channex|studio simplifies the workflow by focusing on the essential controls. Set threshold, shape dynamics with release (attack also available via menu) and compensate with make-up gain. The built-in limiter adds an extra layer of control and safety, intervening only when needed to handle unexpected peaks and prevent overload. On the output side, the Soft Clip Lim iter provides smooth, musical limiting.
With the Flavor section you can choose from 5 coloration options, mix them and adjust the intensity individually (with multiple levels for each). It is designed both to achieve a warm, "vintage" character and to explore modern colorations. The section is bypassable with a button for quick A/B comparisons.
During a session, reliable monitoring makes all the difference. That's why channex|studio integrates a zero-latency section with two high-quality headphone amplifiers and three independent mixes (producer, artist, studio monitor). You can balance playback from DAW, processed signal and built-in reverb for each mix. On the back you'll also find talkback input with preamp (activated by button or footswitch) and a macro mute for quick transitions between recording and playback.
channex|studio is the first elysia device with full recall: you can save up to 22 presets directly to the unit, and use the dedicated plug-in (standalone or in DAW) to save presets within the session, rename them, reorder them, export/import them, and even manage automations. Even when powering off, settings remain stored for the next startup.
The routing architecture allows you to freely order the main sections (dynamic EQ, compressor/limiter, hardware insert, flavor) to fit your workflow, even in hybrid and experimental configurations. Theinsert can be placed where needed, activated or bypassed at any time, leaving the outboard always wired and ready. In addition, two independent headphone tap points allow you to define where you take signals from per artist and engineer along the chain.
