Shotgun microphone for cinema and broadcast live grip - blue

  • Professional shotgun microphone for cinema, broadcast and audiovisual production
  • Supercardioid polar pattern with highly directional front lobe
  • Minimal coloration of off-axis sounds
  • Three switchable filters to adapt to different shooting conditions
  • High speech intelligibility and extremely natural sound response
  • Lightweight and robust metal body
  • Version with iconic Schoeps blue finish

The Schoeps CMIT 5 (Blue) is a professional shotgun microphone designed for direct-take applications in film, broadcast and audiovisual production. This model has become a standard in the sound recording industry due to its exceptional directional accuracy and extremely natural sound quality.

The directionality of the microphone increases progressively with high frequencies, ensuring a balanced and very natural sound character. Off-axis sounds are attenuated gradually, reducing the effects of boom movements and maintaining a consistent and realistic sound output.

Schoeps CMIT 5 Blue: precise directionality and natural sound

The CMIT 5 features a supercardioid front-lobe polar pattern that offers excellent ability to isolate the main source while maintaining a natural sound rendering of the surroundings.

Coloration of off-axis sounds is extremely low compared to many conventional shotgun microphones. This makes the CMIT 5 ideal not only for dialogue and film direct take, but also for music recordings such as concerts or opera productions.

Symmetrical polar pattern and stable behavior

The behavior of the microphone remains constant even when rotated on its own axis. In fact, the polar pattern is symmetrical in both the vertical and horizontal planes, a feature that is particularly useful during boom use in filming.

Built-in filters to adapt to recording situations

The Schoeps CMIT 5 incorporates three filters that can be activated via dedicated buttons, allowing the microphone to be quickly adapted to different recording conditions:

  • High-frequency boost (+5 dB at 10 kHz) to improve speech intelligibility and compensate for any loss of high frequencies due to the use of windbreakers
  • Steep low-cut filter (18 dB/octave below 80 Hz) to reduce wind noise and boom vibration
  • Proximity filter (6 dB/octave below 300 Hz) to compensate for proximity effect

LED indicators next to the buttons clearly show the status of active filters, allowing you to quickly check settings even in low light. Settings remain stored even when the microphone is turned off.

Professional construction and ultralight design

The CMIT 5 is built with a sturdy metal body that ensures reliability even in the most demanding productions. Despite the solid construction, the microphone weighs only 95 g, making it ideal for boom use during long shooting sessions.

The capsule and amplifier are integrated into a single unit, a design solution that contributes to the microphone's compactness and operational stability.
