FET compressors have always been prized in professional studios for their ability to shape dynamics with speed, energy and presence. The WesAudio ng78 brings this philosophy to a 2U stereo processor that adds digital recall, plug-in control, and an even more versatile response with extended attack of up to 20 ms.

This extended attack allows for more precise handling of material, moving from fast, aggressive interventions to more natural handling of transients on vocals, drums, stereo buses, and dynamic instruments.

Stereo FET compression with extended attack and flexible ratios

The ng78 offers five carefully calibrated compression ratios: 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1 and 20:1. The presence of the 2:1 ratio allows for more delicate and musical compression, ideal for glue compression on mix buses or sources that require more transparency. Higher settings, on the other hand, allow for the classic forceful and punchy behavior typical of FET compression.

Attack up to 20 ms for more natural transient control

With an attack range of up to 20 µs to 20 ms, the ng78 allows the dynamic response to be shaped more precisely than classic FET designs. This makes it particularly effective both for emphasizing the punch of drums and percussion and for keeping the response of vocals, guitars and harmonic instruments more natural.

Analog sound with Carnhill output and adjustable harmonic character

The WesAudio ng78 's audio path is entirely analog and keeps the depth, punch and detail of the original signal intact. The Carnhill transformer output stage adds weight, three-dimensionality and a rich analog timbre that is especially valued in professional productions.

THD and Saturation for more analog color

The compressor incorporates a THD control with Low, Mid and High modes, allowing you to add harmonic content according to your desired character. Saturation mode also lets you turn the unit into an analog saturator or clipper: a dedicated control adjusts input and output in reverse, progressively increasing harmonic density, grit and richness.

Parallel compression and advanced stereo control

The built-in MIX knob allows parallel compression to be used directly from the unit, without the need for complex routing. This makes it easier to preserve the natural dynamics of the original signal while adding the punch and control of the compressed circuit.

Dual mono or true stereo with Dynamic Link Technology

The ng78 supports both dual mono and true stereo operation. With flexible detector linking and Dynamic Link Technology, the compressor compensates for component tolerances in the sidechain to maintain perfect stereo balance during compression, regardless of the parameter combination selected.

Evolved sidechain EQ for more precise compression

The sidechain circuit includes two independent sections for more refined control of compressor behavior:

• High Pass filter selectable at 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 150 Hz to preserve the low-end
• High Shelf filter at 2 kHz, 5 kHz and 10 kHz to intervene in high-frequency sensitivity

This configuration allows the compressor's response to be adapted to a wide variety of sources, maintaining more stable low frequencies or emphasizing the detection of mid-high content.

Digital recall, plug-in control and DAW integration
