The Erica Synths Resonant Filterbank is a desktop effect designed for live performance and studio production: a stereo analog filterbank consisting of ten bandpass filters, with direct control over the boost and cut of each band. Thanks to its versatile control configurations, it can become an unconventional multimode filter with an envelope follower, a full-fledged instrument when played with different resonance settings, or an experimental sound generator in setups similar to no-input mixing. It’s an instrument that lets you discover completely new sounds from machines you thought you knew inside and out.

Ten analog bands with film capacitors

The ten bandpass bands are centered at 29 Hz, 61 Hz, 115 Hz, 218 Hz, 411 Hz, 777 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 2.8 kHz, 5.2 kHz, and 11 kHz, covering the entire spectrum from sub-bass to treble. The filters use high-quality film capacitors for a clean and defined analog sound. Each band can be adjusted to boost or cut directly from the front panel or remotely via MIDI CC.

Resonance and Feedback for Filter Playback

The resonance feedback loops are configurable, and resonance can be controlled manually or via MIDI CC. When you push the feedback, the Resonant Filterbank ceases to be just an effect and becomes a sound source: the bands begin to sing, generating tones, drones, and textures that you can shape in real time.

Multimode, analyzer, and spectral compressor

In addition to functioning as a filterbank, you can use it in multimode filter mode, as a spectrum analyzer, or as a dynamic spectral compressor, which acts on individual bands based on the signal’s content. These three different approaches make the Resonant Filterbank equally useful for sound design and for processing loops and mixes.

20 LFOs and 20 envelope followers

Twenty independent LFOs and twenty envelope followers modulate the bands autonomously or in response to the input signal, while synchronization to the MIDI clock keeps the movements in time with the rest of your setup. The result is constantly evolving filtering effects that are impossible to achieve with a static EQ.

For synths, drum machines, modular systems, and guitars

The analog input gain stage boosts signals up to +24 dB, so the Resonant Filterbank works with synths, drum machines, and modular systems, as well as guitars and virtually any other instrument. Balanced 6.3 mm stereo inputs and outputs ensure a clean connection both in the studio and on stage.

Snapshots, MIDI, and Live Control

The 128 snapshot memories store your settings and can be recalled instantly or with a smooth morph from one to the next. All parameters are controllable via MIDI, with 5-pin DIN MIDI IN and OUT, and the configurable footswitch input keeps your hands free during performance. The compact aluminum enclosure complements the Erica Synths desktop lineup.
