Erica Synths Bullfrog is an educational analog synthesizer designed in collaboration with Richie Hawtin to introduce students, producers and professionals to the world of subtractive synthesis. It combines hands-on patching experience with a comprehensive educational approach, making it a perfect tool for schools, academies, and curious musicians.
Bullfrog is based on a traditional structure with modules dedicated to sound generation - VCO and Noise Generator - and signal processing - VCF and VCA/Delay. It also includes control generators such as Envelope Generators and Sample & Hold, allowing a concrete understanding of the fundamentals of analog synthesis.
The synthesizer does not produce sound until it is patched through Eurorack-style cables or through preconfigured Voice Cards. This approach stimulates active learning by clearly showing how the modules interact with each other.
The included Voice Cards allow immediate configurations such as Sequencer, Acid Bassline and Sampler/Looper, while the DIY cards provide room for experimentation and customization.
Bullfrog is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of sound synthesis through hands-on experience. The comprehensive manual walks the user through the educational journey, making the synthesizer an ideal tool for both structured learning and free creativity.
