Erica Synths EDU DIY Mixer is a 3-input mixer module in Eurorack format designed for the mki x es.EDU educational series. Although mixing is often considered a simple utility function in a modular system, this module demonstrates that it can become a true creative element thanks to the built-in diode distortion.
The circuit allows you to sum audio or CV signals by adding analog saturation with a rough and gritty character. Perfect for adding personality to oscillators, drum voices or entire patch sections, turning a simple submix into a source of sonic color.
Built-in distortion makes the module particularly attractive for experimental sound design, techno, industrial, and electronic productions where analog saturation is an integral part of the timbre. From slight crunch to more obvious saturation, the mixer becomes a creative tool, not just a functional one.
Developed by Erica Synths in collaboration with Moritz Klein, the mki x es.EDU series was created with the goal of teaching analog synthesizer circuit design from scratch. Each kit guides the user step by step through circuit choices, explaining the inner workings of the module and the basic principles of sound synthesis.
The complete system includes 9 modules to build a complete modular monosynth: sequencer, VCO, wavefolder, noise/S&H, mixer, VCF, envelope generator, dual VCA and stereo mixer with headphone amplifier. A Eurorack case with dedicated DIY PSU is also available.
The kits include detailed manuals that can be downloaded separately. Due to the DIY nature of the product, no technical support is provided for any problems arising from assembly.
