Erica SynthsEDU DIY Compressor is a DIY kit from the mki x es.EDU educational series, developed by Erica Synths in collaboration with Moritz Klein, designed to teach analog synthesizer circuit design even to those with little or no experience.
If you want to give a "pro" touch to your modular system, this analog diode compressor allows you to control signal dynamics, increasing punch and coherence in patches-an extremely useful addition both in the studio and live.
The circuit is designed to be direct and effective: you can use it to beef up basslines, add sustain to leads, or tame the peaks of percussion and more aggressive transients. Compared to many "studio" solutions, the Eurorack format approach encourages creative and performative use, ideal for sculpting sound directly in the rack.
This kit is not "just to assemble": the goal of the mki x es.EDU series is to walk you through the circuit design process, explaining step-by-step design choices and tradeoffs so you understand how an analog compressor is born and how it affects the final result.
Note: mki x es.EDU kits include very detailed manuals, which can be downloaded separately. Consequently, there is no customer support in case the DIY build does not work (assembly errors, soldering, etc.).
