Erica Synths EDU DIY Labor Basic Kit is a comprehensive platform for learning and experimenting in the design of electronic circuits dedicated to sound synthesis. Developed in collaboration with Dr. Shalom D. Ruben (University of Colorado), Labor is a true playground for circuit design, designed for both beginners and advanced users.
Labor allows you to explore fundamental concepts and advanced design techniques: you can build filters, oscillators, envelopes, sequencers or any circuit you want to experiment with. It is also the ideal platform to follow the mki x es.EDU series educational kits and gain an in-depth understanding of how analog synthesizers work.
The system integrates a dual power supply with Eurorack-compatible voltages and overcurrent (short circuit) protection, ensuring a safe working environment. The modular interface section has 16 configurable slots for potentiometers, jacks and switches, making the lab highly flexible.
Included are an internal oscillator (pulse, triangle and sine wave, usable in both audio range and LFO), a multi-mode envelope generator with Cherry button control, a buffered CV control source and an output amplifier with adjustable gain. There is also a dedicated headphone output and a line output for recording and analysis.
The Basic version includes the LaborPower power supply (wall wart), jumper cables and a selection of interface elements such as potentiometers, jacks and switches. The kit is shipped as partially DIY: some parts are pre-assembled, while others require assembly and soldering.
Labor is a prototyping environment: the manufacturer provides support only for any failures of factory-assembled parts. No support is provided for user-designed circuits.
