Erica Synths and Moritz Klein developed the mki x es.EDU educational series with a clear goal: to teach even those starting from scratch how to design analog synthesizer circuits, step by step. These kits are not meant to be simply soldered and then "forgotten" in the rack: each module becomes a guided tour through the design process, with explanations of each choice and how it affects the final result.
The DIY Kits Set includes 9 kits that together form a complete modular monosynth: sequencer, VCO, wavefolder, noise/S&H, mixer, VCF, envelope generator, dual VCA and output stereo mixer with headphone amplifier. The result is a system that is educational but also fully usable musically, where ease of assembly and design quality go hand in hand.
A very detailed manual (40+ pages) is available for download separately for each kit: in addition to circuit electronics, the contents delve into the fundamentals of sound synthesis. Important note: Just because these are simple kits with full manuals, no support is provided in case of malfunctions due to DIY build.
