AEA Ribbon Mics NUVO Flight: The Ultimate Active Ribbon Microphone Kit

The AEA Ribbon Mics NUVO Flight brings together the entire range of active ribbon microphones from the NUVO series in a single solution. The kit includes the N22, N13, and N8 models, designed for close-up, mid-range, and ambient recording, respectively. Together, they cover virtually any professional recording need, from close miking to capturing large spaces and ensembles.

AEA Active Ribbon Technology

All three microphones share the proven Active Ribbon architecture developed by AEA Ribbon Mics. Thanks to the custom Lehle transformer and active electronics powered by 48V phantom power, they offer a consistent output level and do not require dedicated high-gain preamps, while maintaining the classic warm and natural character of ribbon microphones.

N22: Designed for Close Miking

The AEA N22 is optimized for recording at distances ranging from approximately 1 to 18 inches. Its unique frequency response naturally compensates for the proximity effect and adds a slight emphasis on high frequencies, making it ideal for vocals, guitar amplifiers, kick drums, and close-miked instruments.

N13: Detail and Response Speed

The N13 model uses an ultra-thin 1.2-micron ribbon capable of delivering extremely fast transient response. It is particularly well-suited for drum overheads, acoustic instruments, strings, and sources recorded at medium distances.

N8: Natural ambient recordings

The N8 is designed to capture environments, ensembles, and distant sources with an extremely linear and transparent response, offering a natural and faithful sound image that closely matches human auditory perception.

The kit comes in a sturdy hard-shell flight case with a custom-molded foam interior, designed to safely transport the three microphones and their shock-mounted stands during recording sessions, on-the-road productions, and tours.
