The Flea M 251 FET is the solid-state interpretation of one of the most iconic microphones in recording history: the ELA M 251. For the first time, Flea offers the classic sound of the 251 in a FET version, eliminating the need for external power supply and tube maintenance, but retaining all the musicality and character of the original.
Thanks to FET circuitry, the M 251 FET provides a more transparent sound with a lower noise level than the tube version, while retaining the richness and smoothness of the classic microphone. The three selectable directivities (cardioid, omnidirectional, figure-of-eight) make this microphone extremely flexible in any context: vocals, acoustic instruments, environmental or broadcast studio shooting.
At the heart of the M 251 FET's sound is the FLEA CK12 capsule, a meticulous replica of the legendary CK12, and the T14/1 transformer, identical to that used in the historic models. This combination allows the microphone to retain the tonal balance and sonic signature of the original 251.
The Flea M 251 FET combines vintage aesthetics with precise and reliable construction. It comes in a complete package that includes the microphone housed in a handcrafted wooden box, swivel stand, high-quality cable, and printed manual.
