Digital shotgun microphone for direct take and AES42 output

  • Digital shotgun microphone with AES42 output
  • Extremely high directivity with advanced diffuse noise suppression
  • Based on the famous Schoeps CMIT 5 with advanced DSP processing
  • Dual output: processed SuperCMIT signal and unprocessed CMIT signal
  • Patented DSP algorithms developed by Illusonic
  • Ideal for film, broadcast and sports live grip
  • Compatible with professional digital transmitters

The Schoeps SuperCMIT represents a new generation of professional shotgun microphones. By combining digital technology and advanced DSP algorithms, this microphone offers significantly higher directivity than conventional shotgun microphones, even those with long interference tubes.

Based on the design of the celebrated Schoeps CMIT 5, the SuperCMIT introduces a completely innovative system that uses two transducers and proprietary digital processing to distinguish between direct sound and diffuse noise, dramatically improving the clarity of the main signal.

Digital shotgun microphone with advanced DSP technology

At the heart of the Schoeps SuperCMIT is a powerful DSP system developed in collaboration with Illusonic. The processor continuously analyzes the direction and nature of sound, distinguishing between directional sound sources and diffuse noise from the environment.

This makes it possible to significantly reduce ambient noise-such as traffic, wind, audience, or reverberation-while maintaining the naturalness and transparency of direct sound.

Dual audio output for maximum flexibility

The SuperCMIT provides two separate signals through its AES42 digital output:

  • Channel 1: SuperCMIT signal processed with high directivity
  • Channel 2: unprocessed CMIT signal

This configuration allows the sound engineer to simultaneously have a highly directional track and a safety track with the original signal.

Built-in controls and directivity presets

The microphone has three buttons that allow you to control filters and presets directly on the microphone body.

Directivity presets

  • Preset 1: moderate directivity increase with diffuse noise reduction of about 11 dB
  • Preset 2: diffuse noise reduction of up to 15 dB for particularly difficult situations

The microphone also incorporates two filters identical to those found in the analog CMIT:

  • High-shelf filter: +5 dB at 10 kHz to compensate for the attenuation of the windscreens
  • Low-cut filter: 80 Hz with 18 dB/oct slope to reduce wind and boom noise

Ideal for direct pickup in harsh environments

The Schoeps SuperCMIT is particularly effective in situations where diffuse ambient noise interferes with recording, such as urban traffic, wind, public or reverberant environments. In these contexts, the microphone makes it possible to maintain a natural direct sound by significantly reducing the level of background noise.

For this reason, it is an extremely popular tool in film live capture, television filming, and sports productions.

Compatibility with digital wireless systems

The SuperCMIT is compatible with several professional digital wireless transmitters, including:

  • Sound Devices A20-TX
  • Zaxcom TRX743
  • Zaxcom TRX745

If your recorder does not directly support the AES42 standard, you can use dedicated power supplies such as Schoeps PSD 2U or Schoeps MiniDA42.
