Erica Synths EDU DIY Sequencer is a compact yet extremely versatile 5-step sequencer module designed for the Eurorack format and part of the mki x es.EDU educational series. It is the ideal solution both for those who are building their first breadboard VCO and need a simple and immediate control source, and for those who want a hands-on sequencer in their modular system.
The module offers adjustable sequence length, gate on or off for each individual step, and output range control, allowing great flexibility in creating melodic and rhythmic patterns. It can operate with internal or external clock and has Reset input for advanced synchronizations or to concatenate multiple sequencers into more complex configurations.
Clocked at audio rate, the module can also be used as a waveshaper, opening up creative possibilities beyond its classic use as a CV sequence generator. This makes it an interesting tool not only for modular composition, but also for experimental sound design.
Developed by Erica Synths in collaboration with Moritz Klein, the mki x es.EDU series was created with the goal of teaching analog synthesizer circuit design even to those starting from scratch. Each kit guides the user step by step through the inner workings of the module, explaining circuit choices and the fundamentals of sound synthesis.
The complete system includes 9 modules to build a complete modular monosynth, including VCO, VCF, Envelope, VCA, mixer, noise/S&H and stereo output. Each kit includes an in-depth manual that can be downloaded separately.
