TheIntellijel MEMS Mic 1U is a compact microphone module designed to bring real sources inside your Eurorack system: vocals, percussion, acoustic instruments, field recordings, and ambient sounds immediately become part of the patch. It is also a great ally for extreme experimentation, such as controlled feedback and noise textures.

What is a MEMS microphone and why it is perfect for music

MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) microphones use a micromechanical component mounted on a PCB and protected by a cover. They are very common in modern devices (smartphones, tablets, cameras), but here they are exploited for their musical quality: despite their tiny size, they offer a very extended and linear response, ideal for capturing details and transients.

Level control with sliders and CV, plus anti-clipping indicators

Output level can be controlled with sliders and/or modulated via CV. When using CV modulation, the slider becomes an attenuator, so you can precisely dose the depth of modulation. Green (activity) and red (overload) LEDs help keep the signal under control, avoiding unwanted distortion.

Fixed roll-off on bass for a cleaner signal

The module includes a fixed bass cutoff (roll-off) at 180 Hz with a 6 dB/octave slope, useful for reducing handling noise, rumbling, and plosives when working with vocals and environments.
