u-he Zebra 3 is a next-generation modular virtual synthesizer designed to offer extremely deep sonic possibilities, combining analog modeling, advanced digital synthesis, physical modelling and wavetable synthesis in a single creative environment. A complete evolution of the celebrated Zebra concept, this new version introduces a modern workflow, superior sound quality, and exceptional flexibility for music production, cinematic sound design, and advanced sound experimentation.
Designed both as a "workhorse" tool for everyday production and as a platform for advanced sound exploration, Zebra 3 provides a powerful modular Generator Rack with highly configurable oscillators, premium-quality filters, and a highly sophisticated modulation system.
The four main oscillators can dynamically transform between drawable spline waveforms, classic wavetables with up to 16 unison voices, and additive synthesis engines with up to 1024 sine harmonics. Each oscillator also has two dedicated serial effects slots with more than 20 different processes, including spectral filtering, phase distortion, spectral decay and advanced sync.
The built-in FM engine enables the creation of complex algorithms with four fully concatenatable FM oscillators, capable of using any internal signal as an additional operator without fixed topological limitations.
Zebra 3 integrates Noise Generator, Exciter and Modal Resonator modules designed to work together in creating physically modeled instruments, organic textures and kinematic sounds. Extremely realistic bells, marimbas, strings and resonant surfaces can be generated, controlling feedback, damping and harmonic response with great precision.
The synthesizer includes over 105 filter responses derived from 13 different models, including Ladder, Cascade and SVF, offering timbres ranging from vintage analog to experimental digital. Modules such as Wavefolder, Ring Modulator and Distortion can be freely inserted into the audio chain to create aggressive harmonics and radical signal transformations.
The Modulation Rack section makes Zebra 3 one of the most advanced software synthesizers on the market. Four fully editable ADSR envelopes, four LFOs and four MSEGs allow you to build dynamic modulations, evolutionary rhythmic sequences and complex morphing. Mod Math and Mappers also allow you to combine and transform modulation signals in extremely creative ways.
Zebra 3 supports MPE, microtuning and MTS-ESP for advanced expressive control. The adaptive interface shows only the modules actually used in the patch, keeping the workflow fast, uncluttered, and perfect for both musicians and professional sound designers.
The global effects section integrates chorus, phaser, flanger, compressors, analog and digital delays, multitap delays, classic reverbs, and granular texture reverbs. Modular voice sends allow the synthesizer's spatiality and expressiveness to become an integral part of the polyphonic performance.
