Universal Audio UAD LUNA Studio is the music production DAW that brings the experience of a professional analog studio to your computer. Instead of the usual stock plug-ins, you’ll find UAD hardware emulations used by chart-topping artists and engineers, complemented by intelligent tools that speed up writing, recording, and mixing. It’s all designed to give you creative control and help you turn an idea into a finished track, with a sound that stands up to the benchmarks you listen to every day.
LUNA Extensions are at the heart of LUNA’s sound. Studer A800 and Ampex ATR-102 tape emulations are available on every track to add warmth and cohesion, while you can apply the character of the API console to any bus using the API Vision Console Channel Strip, API Summing, and API 2500 Bus Compressor. A mixing approach that mirrors the signal path in an analog studio, integrated directly into the DAW’s architecture.
The Apollo and LUNA interfaces are a perfect match, designed to work together. Record through authentic emulations of preamps and guitar amps, monitor with real-time UAD plug-ins, and manage routing seamlessly—just like at the console of an analog studio. LUNA works with any audio interface and is accelerated on Apollo and Volt devices.
LUNA Play is a fast, new way to record—similar to a voice memo app but designed for making music. It automatically recognizes your instrument, sets the levels, and suggests effective presets based on UAD plug-ins. You can isolate tracks in a song and play along with them, or capture your original ideas before they fade away.
LUNA Studio includes state-of-the-art production tools. Stem separation splits any song into 6 separate elements; lyric transcription lets you navigate your session by following the words instead of the waveforms; and tempo detection ensures that LUNA follows your playing style. Rounding out the package are chord extraction, audio-to-MIDI conversion, and hardware insert management to integrate your outboard gear into your project.
For production, you have access to UAD virtual instruments with refined sound—not just standard VIs: the Opal morphing synthesizer, PolyMAX Synth, the Waterfall B3 organ, and the Ravel grand piano, alongside Celemony Tonalic Essential, Synthesizer V Studio 2 Core, and ChordAXE Lite. For vocals, you’ll find Topline Vocal Tune and Celemony Melodyne Essential.
The package includes a selection of UAD emulations that have become industry standards: from the API Vision and Century Tube channel strips to Pultec passive EQs, from Teletronix LA-2A, 1176, and Fairchild compressors to reverbs, delays, and modulation effects such as Pure Plate, Galaxy Tape Echo, and Brigade Chorus.
For guitars, you’ll find the Showtime ’64, Ruby ’63 Top Boost, and Woodrow ’55 amps. For cleaning up tracks, Noiseworks VoiceAssist Basic and Steinberg SpectraLayers Go are included, while Steinberg WaveLab Go is available for final mastering. A complete workflow, from the first take to the master.
