The Suiko ST-20 is a vintage electronic instrument made in Japan by the Suiko (Mizukosha) brand and designed to accompany the traditional Japanese art of poetic recitation called Shigin. The available model is used and comes with the original case, a rare accessory that adds to the collectible appeal of this instrument.
Shigin is a form of melodic declamation of classical poems accompanied by traditional instruments such as the koto, shakuhachi and orchestral ensembles. The Suiko ST-20 was created for this very purpose: to provide immediate musical accompaniment to support the voice during practice or performance.
The device integrates a digital sound generator with timbres inspired by traditional Oriental instruments and a selection of pre-programmed musical patterns. These sounds are designed to create an evocative musical context to accompany poetic declamation with evocative sound textures.
Precisely because of its distinctive sound character, over the years the Suiko ST-20 has attracted the interest of collectors, electronic musicians and sound designers, who use it to create ambient atmospheres, cinematic soundscapes and experimental productions.
The ST-20's control panel allows you to quickly select built-in sounds and musical accompaniments. The interface is designed to be immediate and accessible even to those with no experience with synthesizers or electronic instruments.
