NUGEN Audio VisLM 2 + Focus Elements: loudness metering and stereo control

NUGEN Audio VisLM 2 + Focus Elements is a bundle that combines professional loudness metering tools with three plug-ins dedicated to managing the stereo image and low frequencies. The package includes VisLM 2, a loudness meter designed for broadcast, post-production, and game audio, along with Stereoizer Elements, Monofilter Elements, and Stereoplacer Elements. This combination allows you to check for compliance, monitor levels and True Peak, and simultaneously adjust the spatial balance of your audio material.

VisLM 2: Professional Loudness Meter for Broadcast and Post-Production

NUGEN Audio VisLM 2 offers an immediate overview of loudness values along with detailed historical analysis tools, allowing you to monitor the program and meet the targets required by various distribution specifications. The plug-in includes ready-to-use international and regional presets and can be configured to handle legacy specifications, internal standards, or specific requirements of individual broadcasters. The resizable interface allows you to adapt the display to your workflow, switching between detailed information for experienced operators and easily navigable safety zones, flags, and alerts.

Momentary, Short-term, Integrated Loudness, and True Peak

VisLM 2 provides the key measurements necessary for professional loudness monitoring, including Momentary, Short-term, and Integrated Loudness. The True Peak Meter displays True Peak values as defined by the ITU-R BS.1770 standard, allowing you to anticipate and measure inter-sample peaks that could cause distortion in subsequent stages of the distribution chain.

True Peak Flags and Timeline Problem Navigation

True Peak violations are logged relative to the project’s timecode within the history view. Navigable flags then allow you to quickly identify problem areas on the timeline and address the points requiring correction.

ReMEM Technology with Up to 24 Hours of Loudness Memory

One of VisLM 2’s core features is ReMEM technology for automated loudness memory management. VisLM can store up to 24 hours of data synchronized to the timecode received directly from the NLE or DAW. In the event of an edit or overdub, the overall loudness values are updated without necessarily requiring a new end-to-end measurement of the entire program. The loudness data is also saved along with the session, making it easy to resume work.

AudioSuite Measurement Faster Than Real Time

Offline AudioSuite scans can be transferred to the meter in real time, enabling measurements faster than real time and helping to speed up post-production workflows.

Compliance with ITU-R BS.1770, EBU R128, ATSC A/85, and Netflix

NUGEN VisLM 2 is compatible with recommendations and guidelines based on the international ITU-R BS.1770 standard, including revisions 1, 2, 3, and 4. Supported standards and specifications include ATSC A/85 (CALM Act), EBU R128, EBU R128 S1, ARIB TR-B32, OP-59, AGCOM 219/9/CSP, Portaria 354, and DPP for BBC, ITV, C4, C5, and S4C. VisLM 2 is also suitable for workflows compliant with Netflix best practices and supports Leq(m) measurements, including the TASA and SAWA variants, as well as Leq(a).

VisLM 2 for surround sound up to 7.1.2 and game audio

VisLM 2 supports surround configurations up to 7.1.2 and is designed to harmonize loudness across different sources, facilitating consistent balancing of music, dialogue, and effects. In addition to broadcast and post-production workflows, the software is also suitable for game audio applications and is certified compatible with PlayStation and Xbox One.

Focus Elements: Three Plug-ins for Mix Control

Focus Elements includes simplified versions of the NUGEN Audio Stereoizer, Monofilter, and Stereoplacer plug-ins. The Elements versions use the same technology underlying their respective Focus plug-ins, presented through a simplified interface and set of controls. When combined with VisLM 2, they allow you to complement loudness metering with tools dedicated to managing stereo width, low frequencies, and the positioning of content within the soundstage.

Stereoizer Elements: Expanding the Stereo Image

Stereoizer Elements allows you to add width and spatial balance, create a stereo image from a mono source, and achieve more pronounced stereo separation. The processing is designed to maintain mono compatibility, an important feature when the material must be played back on different listening and distribution systems.

Monofilter Elements: Low-Frequency Control

Monofilter Elements allows you to sum low-frequency content in mono and make the lower end of the spectrum more compact, defined, and controlled. It can also be used to optimize material for high-volume playback and to prepare mixes and masters for vinyl, while preserving the track’s original character.

Stereoplacer Elements: Stereo Placement Management

Stereoplacer Elements allows you to adjust the positioning within the stereo image while preserving the rest of the soundscape and the original balance of the sounds. It can be used to reconstruct a stereo image from mono material, correct stereo microphone recording issues, restore archival recordings, and process samples from old recordings.
