Total Recall MIDI-CV Touchscreen Central Module for the Warthog System
The Adamsynths Central Unit is the command center of the Warthog modular system and, in this configuration, comes with the power supply and ASR-Rails distribution rails. It manages communication between modules, handles MIDI-to-CV conversion, and provides Total Recall, the exclusive Adamsynths feature that lets you save patches and recall them at any time. It’s the starting point for building a Warthog system: a digitally controlled analog modular system that combines the immediacy of cables with the ability to recreate every sound exactly as it was.
Warthog modules are digitally controlled analog circuits, and it is precisely this architecture that makes Total Recall possible: the Central Unit stores the modules’ settings and recalls them when you need them, overcoming one of the historical limitations of modular systems.
Each patch can contain up to 32 snapshots, managed by the Central Unit. From the dedicated menu, you can define how they’re recalled or morphed: via MIDI, using the function buttons, from the touchscreen, or with the Mood Wheels. This allows you to switch between different variations of the same patch live, or gradually blend two different states, without touching a single cable.
The interface includes navigation and function buttons, an encoder, and a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, as well as 12 analog CV outputs and 12 digital outputs that are freely assignable based on the patch. On the Warthog’s rear panel, you’ll find MIDI IN/OUT, a USB port, and Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity.
The analog outputs can be configured independently as NOTE, VELOCITY, AFTERTOUCH, PITCH BEND, or CONTROL CHANGE, with the source selectable between USB and MIDI. They can be switched and inverted, operate with a ±5 V or 0–10 V range, be enabled or disabled, or set to fixed values: ON, OFF, -5 V, 0 V, +5 V, or +10 V. This is a valuable feature for live performances, when changing the routing without moving cables makes all the difference.
The digital outputs are also individually configurable as GATE, TRIG, S-TRIG, SYNC, or CONTROL CHANGE—always with a USB or MIDI source—and can be switched and inverted. In SYNC mode, each output can operate in PPQN or with a SYNC DIV division value—for example, 1, 2, 4, or 8—to synchronize sequencers, LFOs, and drum machines to your DAW’s tempo.
All parameters of the Warthog modules can be controlled via MIDI. From the Central Unit menu, select the module, choose the parameter, and assign the desired MIDI controller: this way, your modular system becomes an integral part of your studio setup, with automation managed directly from the DAW.
Each module has dedicated settings accessible from the Central Unit’s Hidden Parameters menu. After selecting a module, you can configure additional functions and, for some modules, access calibration parameters.
Thanks to its digitally controlled analog circuits, the Warthog system has ample room for future development. Controller firmware updates are handled by the Central Unit: the system notifies you when new versions are available, but installation always requires your manual confirmation.
ASR-Rails is the electronic distribution layer developed specifically for the Warthog system. It handles both the power supply to the modules and the physical infrastructure of the internal PatchCon communication channels.
To support the higher power consumption and data exchange between modules required by Total Recall, Warthog modules do not use traditional 16-pin Eurorack ribbon cables, but rather a dedicated interface optimized for high currents and digital data transmission.
Despite its specific architecture, ASR-Rails is fully compatible with standard Eurorack modules from other manufacturers; it supports their power supply and allows you to integrate them into the Warthog ecosystem alongside Adamsynths modules. The rails are also daisy-chainable: you can connect multiple distribution layers to expand the system, maintaining a stable power supply and continuous PatchCon communication between all modules.
