Erica Synths Bullfrog Electric Organ Voice Card is an expansion card designed to transform the Bullfrog into a powerful electronic organ. By plugging in the Voice Card, dedicated internal connections are created to generate typical pipe organ sounds, ideal for polyphonic chords and expressive performances.

Additive synthesis applied to the Bullfrog

This Voice Card demonstrates the principles of additive synthesis in a practical way: a Pulse waveform is sent to the Divider module, which generates sub-octaves by dividing the original frequency by even numbers. The Divider outputs are then summed with the original Pulse and sent to the VCF and then to the VCA.

Sub-octave control and customizable timbre

Faders on the board adjust the amplitude of each sub-octave, allowing the character of the organ to be shaped from light sounds to full, majestic timbres. The filter's Cutoff and Resonance controls allow for further timbral nuances, while the addition of internal delay allows for more spacious environments.

Teaching and Performance

The Electric Organ Voice Card is a perfect tool for understanding the principles of additive synthesis in an intuitive and practical way. By connecting an external MIDI keyboard or CV/Gate, the Bullfrog transforms into a performance-ready electronic organ for studio or live performance.
