Maag Audio PREQ2: Stereo channel strip with Air Band

The Maag Audio PREQ2 is a 1U rack-mount stereo microphone preamplifier with two identical channels based on Maag's famous Class-A circuitry, featuring mic and line input on XLR connectors, and instrument connectivity on ¼" jacks. Each channel also includes Air Band® equalizer, high-pass filter and low-frequency EQ for precise and musical sonic control.

High-performance preamp for every source

With custom input transformers and discrete Class-A design, the PREQ2 offers up to 71 dB of gain per channel, with EIN of -128 dB and headroom of up to +27 dBu. Gain control is continuous, with dedicated switches for high-sensitivity mode, -20 dB pads, 48V phantom power, phase inversion, and LED indicators for signal and peak.

Studio versatility: line, instrument and reamp

High-impedance instrument input (1 MΩ) and isolated thru output allow direct reamping to amps or pedals. The PREQ2 can handle microphone and line signals simultaneously, making it an ideal solution for advanced tracking and hybrid applications.

Transparent equalization with Air Band®

Each channel integrates a sweepable high-pass filter (20-200 Hz), a low-frequency EQ with six selectable curves and up to +9 dB boost, and the famous Air Band® with six selectable frequencies up to 40 kHz. Control is immediate and musical, perfect for enhancing the presence and airiness of any source.
