The Chandler Limited TG Microphone Type L is a wide-diaphragm condenser microphone with phantom power and cardioid polar pattern. A direct evolution of the famous TG Microphone, the Type L inherits the main circuitry, custom capsule and the famous Dual Tone system, but introduces its own unique and distinctive sonic character.
The Dual Tone system offers two operating modes: the "A" mode, with a mid-range, harmonically rich sound response, and the "B" mode, which is more transparent and similar to a ribbon microphone. This makes the TG Type L extremely flexible and suitable for multiple recording contexts.
By activating the -10 dB pad, both modes also become suitable for high SPL sources. The "B" + PAD combination is the ideal configuration for handling particularly intense sounds, such as guitar amps or close percussive instruments.
The TG Microphone Type L delivers a wide, three-dimensional sound that exceeds expectations for a solid-state microphone. It is intended as a "working" microphone for professional recording studios, and can be used as an alternative to the classic C12, C414, FET47, U67, and U87, or as a one-size-fits-all solution in contexts where dynamics and ribbon would be used in combination.
