500 Series Microphone Preamplifier / EMI - Abbey Road - Used
Chandler Limited TG2-500 used is the 500 Series version of the famous preamplifier inspired by the rare EMI TG12428 used in the recording and mastering consoles at EMI/Abbey Road Studios in the late 1960s and early 1970s. A professional solution for those who want to bring the iconic sound character of the historic productions made at Abbey Road to their studio.
The TG2-500 faithfully echoes the design of Chandler Limited's TG2 Pre Amp/DI, retaining the same discrete transformer-balanced circuitry. The result is a creamy, rich, three-dimensional sound with an open, detailed top-end and slight harmonic saturation that lends warmth and presence.
The preamplifier offers the punch typical of vintage British circuitry, but with a slightly emphasized high-frequency response that contributes to a natural musical brilliance. This combination makes it ideal for vocals, drums, guitars and acoustic instruments in the professional recording environment.
The gain control is divided into Coarse Gain (+20 to +50 dB in 5-dB steps) and Fine Gain (±10 dB variable), for precise level adjustment. Mic/Line input is selectable, as is impedance (300 or 1200 Ω), allowing perfect matching with different types of microphones. There is +48V phantom power and phase reversal.
The module is compatible with 500 Series chassis powered at ±16V (not included). With its compact format, you can easily integrate TG sound into your lunchbox for professional studio and live setups.
