The Universal Audio Apollo X8 Gen 2 AC Analog Classics is an 18 x 24 Thunderbolt audio interface designed for producers, recording studios, and audio professionals who demand the highest sound quality, reference-grade conversion, and the flexibility of the Universal Audio platform. Featuring four Unison™ microphone preamps, the HEXA Core DSP, and the new Apollo X Gen 2 conversion, it delivers professional-grade performance for recording, mixing, and mastering.
This second generation introduces completely redesigned converters, new features such as Auto-Gain, Apollo Monitor Correction, and Bass Management, as well as even more precise monitoring and advanced workflow management via UAD Console.
The four Unison™ microphone preamps are one of the Apollo X8 Gen 2’s key strengths. Thanks to Universal Audio’s proprietary technology, you can record in real time using extremely faithful emulations of historic preamps and channel strips, modifying not only the sound but also the electrical behavior of the input.
With compatible plug-ins, you can achieve the sonic character of gear from Neve, API, Avalon, Manley, and many other legendary brands, while maintaining an extremely natural workflow during recording.
The new Apollo X Gen 2 platform features completely redesigned A/D and D/A converters that deliver an even wider dynamic range and extremely low distortion levels. Conversion up to 24-bit / 192 kHz allows you to capture every detail of your recording with precision and transparency.
The proprietary Dual-Crystal Clocking system drastically reduces jitter at any sample rate, improving the stability, depth, and definition of the audio signal.
The HEXA Core DSP processor allows you to use Universal Audio’s renowned plug-ins during recording and mixing with virtually zero latency. Compressors, equalizers, channel strips, reverbs, delays, tape simulations, and amp models can be used directly during tracking without compromising your computer’s performance.
The UAD platform also provides access to over 200 professional plug-ins developed by Universal Audio and leading industry manufacturers, offering tools used daily in the world’s top recording studios.
The Auto-Gain feature automatically sets the correct preamp level in just a few seconds, speeding up session setup and reducing the risk of unwanted clipping. It’s particularly useful during vocal recordings, acoustic instrument recordings, and sessions with multiple simultaneous sources.
Apollo Monitor Correction, developed in collaboration with Sonarworks®, allows you to calibrate monitors and headphones to achieve an extremely linear and reliable response. This enables you to make more precise decisions during mixing and mastering, even in environments that aren’t perfectly treated.
The built-in Bass Management feature makes it easy to integrate one or more subwoofers into your monitoring system, offering more precise control over low frequencies and better management of surround systems.
The Apollo X8 Gen 2 supports stereo and surround configurations up to 7.1, making it ideal not only for music production but also for audio post-production, sound design, and multimedia content. The built-in monitor controller lets you manage alternate monitors, talkback, and different listening configurations directly from the interface.
The UAD Console app lets you control routing, cue mixes, ultra-low-latency monitoring, Plug-In Scenes, Auto-Gain, and Bass Management from a single, intuitive interface. Integration with LUNA also allows you to work with a workflow inspired by analog consoles while maintaining all the flexibility of a modern DAW.
The Apollo X8 Gen 2 is fully compatible with LUNA, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton Live, and the leading professional audio workstations available for Mac and Windows.
The Apollo X8 Gen 2 can be expanded by connecting up to four Apollo Thunderbolt interfaces, providing up to 128 channels of professional I/O. The ability to integrate other Apollo rack or desktop models allows you to build a fully customized system while maintaining a consistent, centralized workflow.
The Analog Classics version includes a selection of professional UAD plug-ins for recording, mixing, mastering, and music production.
