Portable analog synthesizer

I own quite a few Eurorack synth voices — including the Intellijel Atlantis, Moog Mavis, Deckard’s Voice, Dreadbox Erebus Reissue, Doepfer A-111-6, and others — and the GRP A1 still manages to stand out with a character of its own. Even though it is a fairly classic East Coast synth architecture, it has a distinct sound and a very musical character. The sweet spots are easy to find, and it quickly becomes inspiring to play. My only real criticism is that the MIDI connection is lost once the module is integrated into a Eurorack case. However, during Superbooth 2026, a GRP representative told me that it is actually possible, with a bit of DIY work, to extract the small MIDI PCB from the original GRP enclosure and mount it behind a custom panel, allowing the MIDI functionality to remain available even after installing the module into a Eurorack system.
