The SPL MC16 All Black is a 16-channel analog monitor controller designed for mastering studios working on projects in Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, and other immersive formats. The goal is to bring multichannel listening up to the same level of quality as a reference stereo mix: a result that has been difficult to achieve until now, which SPL addresses with a 16-section precision potentiometer and its 120V technology.

In immersive systems, volume control must remain identical across all channels; otherwise, the spatial image shifts as you adjust the listening level. The MC16 uses a 16-section potentiometer custom-built for SPL, which adjusts all channels consistently with a single knob, maintaining the balance between the speakers at every listening level.

SPL 120V Technology with Fifth-Generation SUPRA Operational Amplifiers

The active electronics operate on the SPL Mastering series’ 120 V DC audio line, featuring fifth-generation SUPRA operational amplifiers. The result is very wide headroom and an extended dynamic range across all 16 channels, ensuring detailed and reliable listening even with the most dynamic immersive mixes.

XLR and DB25 Inputs, Outputs for 16 Speakers

The MC16 features two 16-channel inputs—via XLR and DB25—allowing you to connect, for example, the converter from your immersive workstation to a renderer or a second playback system. The 16 XLR speaker outputs directly power your speaker array.

Solo, Dim, Mute, and listening presets

The Solo, Dim, and Mute controls allow you to isolate individual channels, temporarily lower the volume, or mute the system. Three speaker array presets and three solo presets let you recall your most frequently used configurations with the press of a button—for example, to switch from a full immersive layout to a subset of speakers. The included label sheet lets you mark channels and functions according to your mixing setup.

Pairing with the SPL DMC Mastering Console

When connected to the SPL DMC stereo mastering console, the MC16 receives L/R and subwoofer volume control from the DMC, integrating multichannel monitoring into your existing stereo mixing environment. You can work in all current playback formats with the same level of quality, without having to reconnect any speakers.

All Black Version

The All Black version offers the same features as the MC16 in an all-black finish, coordinated with the All Black DMC and mastering control rooms featuring a dark aesthetic.
