Synthux Academy Audrey II is an experimental desktop synthesizer designed for creating drones, atmospheric textures, and ever-evolving soundscapes. Based on a Karplus-Strong engine and a sophisticated controlled feedback system, Audrey II generates organic sounds, deep resonances, and unpredictable harmonics that evolve over time. It is an instrument designed for electronic musicians, sound designers, and composers seeking immersive and cinematic timbres.

Karplus-Strong Synthesis and Controlled Feedback

At the heart of Audrey II is a Karplus-Strong synthesis engine that uses a continuous source of inaudible white noise as excitation. Sound emerges exclusively through the control of the main feedback, which activates a complex self-resonance circuit capable of generating drones, harmonics, and constantly transforming textures.

The fundamental frequency is defined by the length of the virtual string’s delay line, while the timbral character and harmonic content are shaped throughout the entire feedback chain.

Reverb and Filters for Atmospheric Textures

The signal path includes a soft clipping section, a built-in reverb, and low-pass and high-pass filters that allow you to sculpt the sound with precision. This architecture enables deep resonances, ambient drones, dark soundscapes, and cinematic textures rich in movement.

Tape-Style Delay and Creative Saturation

After the main synthesis section, the signal passes through a delay inspired by tape recorders. Thanks to the long delay time available and extensive feedback control, Audrey II can produce infinite repeats, progressive saturations, and complex sound modulations, ideal for experimental sound design and live performance.
