Waldorf Protein is an 8-voice wavetable synthesizer that blends the authentic sound of the original Microwave 1 with the modernity of the Iridium architecture. With two ASIC oscillators, a CEM modeled filter, and an advanced modulation matrix, Protein delivers a deep and rich sound structure. All in an ultra-compact format, perfect for studio and live performance.
ASIC oscillators operate at 250kHz and faithfully reproduce all Microwave 1 wavetables, including vocal and algorithmic wavetables, with original 8-bit aliasing and quantization. The 8 voices can be organized into 4 independent timbre layers, useful for stacks, round robins or MIDI splits.
The EMF filter is enhanced by modulations, variable detuning and noises (noise, crackle, geiger...). Effects (reverb, delay, chorus, drive, flanger, EQ...) are distributed over 2 slots. Protein supports MPE, polyphonic aftertouch, advanced arpeggiator, step sequencer up to 32 steps, scales and chords.
With over 150 factory sounds and the ability to load up to 250 presets, Protein allows you to save, import and combine layers instantly. Its small size (252 × 170 × 48 mm) and light weight (0.9 kg) make it the ideal companion for any on-the-go producer.
