AtoV cDVCA (Black) is a Eurorack module that redefines the concept of the traditional VCA. Based on a completely original technology inspired by Class D amplifiers, it is not designed to be transparent, but to add character, saturation, and new timbral possibilities to any audio source.

The input signal is converted into ultrasonic PWM modulation, then scaled in amplitude, and finally reconstructed through a dedicated filtering process. This unique processing method generates a distinctive sonic character, rich in harmonics and capable of radically transforming the original material.

The First VCA with 1V/oct Tracking

The cDVCA’s defining feature is its ability to lower the frequency of the PWM modulation down to the audible spectrum and control it via the classic 1V/oct input. This allows for perfectly in-tune waveshaping effects that follow melodies and basslines with surprising precision.

The result is a new category of sound processing that combines controlled amplification, timbral synthesis, and distortion in a single module.

Distortion with a Unique Character

The Drive control uses an innovative clipping algorithm that does not rely on simply overloading the electronic circuits. The result is extremely well-defined distortion, rich in harmonics and capable of maintaining a precise sonic identity even at extreme settings.

The signal then passes through a single-pole VCF filter, which allows you to shape the timbre and control the more aggressive harmonics produced by the waveshaping section.

Also a Full-Fledged Synth Voice

In the absence of an input signal, the module automatically generates an internal square wave, allowing it to be used as a simple synthesizer voice consisting of an oscillator, VCA, and filter. This feature makes the cDVCA extremely versatile both as a signal processor and as a standalone sound source.
