The Pope Audio PRE-BXR is a fully analog two-channel microphone preamplifier designed to deliver a distinctive and musical sound. Based on an API-style input stage and Carnhill transformer output, it combines punch, definition, and harmonic saturation in a 19" rack format ideal for professional and project studios.
The Carnhill transformer output stage gives the sound a warm, controlled saturation perfect for drums, electric guitars and basses. The result is a balance between the vintage Neve character and the more aggressive, defined response typical of API circuits.
Thanks to the 1:1 / 3:1 switch you can push the transformer into saturation while maintaining manageable output levels, ideal for getting analog color without overloading the converters.
The built-in Baxandall EQ allows for extremely natural shaping of high and low frequencies, with a range of about ±7 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Perfect for adding brilliance, controlling the low end, or refining the sound right out of the recording stage.
The EQ circuit can be completely bypassed, ensuring a clean signal path when no intervention is needed.
The PRE-BXR offers XLR microphone inputs, rear line inputs, and a front Hi-Z input for instruments. The impedance selector allows optimal use with dynamic and ribbon microphones, while phantom power and phase reverse complete signal control.
The simple, straightforward interface allows quick adjustments during tracking, making this preamp ideal for dynamic sessions and modern workflows.
Hand-built in the UK, the Pope Audio PRE-BXR is designed to deliver reliability and top-notch sound quality. A perfect solution for those seeking a boutique preamplifier with distinctive character and great versatility.
