  • Built-in distortion
  • 2 gates, 2 VCAs and 2 inverters all with CV control

The Soma Laboratory Pulsar-23 Screw (Black) is an organismic drum machine, designed by Vlad Kreimer, that revolutionizes the concept of rhythm synthesis. With a semi-modular structure and composed of 23 independent modules, PULSAR is incredibly versatile. It can be used for the synthesis of percussion instruments and complex rhythms, but also for creating bass and melodic lines, unique sound effects and evolved soundscapes. It also works excellently as a control voltage source and as a powerful stand-alone analog FX processor.

Pulsar-23 Screw: Organismic Flexibility and Extreme Connectivity

The PULSAR-23 operates in three different modes simultaneously: stand-alone, MIDI control, and CV control, allowing unique combinations and interactions in any proportion. One of its most innovative features is the possibility of live "circuit bending" and the use of the conductivity of the artist's body to create cross-patches and modulations, pushing the boundaries of sonic experimentation. The PULSAR-23 continues the philosophy of organismic synthesizers inaugurated by the LYRA-8, now applying it to the world of percussion instruments with amazing results.

Deep Sound Design and Advanced Features.

Each drum channel of the Pulsar-23 (Bass Drum, BassPercussion, Snare Drum, Cymbals/Hi-Hat) is supported by envelope generators capable of generating sustain, effectively turning percussion instruments into noisedrone synthesizers for continuous sound textures. The 4 independent loop recorders capture trigger events and can be individually synchronized, offering complex rhythmic possibilities. The built-in clock generator, with a wide range of dividers, is a powerful tool for rhythm synthesis.

Extreme Modulation and Unique Features

Rounding out its capabilities, we find a wide-range LFO (0.1 - 5000Hz) with variable waveform and "Shaos," a unique pseudo-random generator based on slide registers, equipped with 4 independent outputs, sample and hold and other interesting features. The built-in FX processor, with CV control also over the sampling rate of the entire DSP, and distortion, allow further sculpting of the sound. The presence of 2 gates, 2 VCAs and 2 inverters, all controllable via CV, provides unprecedented modular control. The "Screw" version offers the same outstanding functionality as the "turret," but at a more affordable price due to the use of screws instead of custom turrets.
