The DPA 4080 CORE+ Cardioid Mic is a professional lavalier microphone designed for broadcast, video, conference and live production applications. With its miniaturized cardioid capsule and CORE+ technology, this microphone ensures extremely clear and defined voice pickup even in acoustically complex environments.

DPA cardioid lavalier microphone for speech and broadcasting

Unlike omnidirectional lavalier microphones, the DPA 4080 uses a cardioid polar pattern that allows it to focus on the main source while effectively reducing noise from off-axis. This makes it particularly suitable for applications where the subject's voice needs to be isolated, such as interviews, TV programs, conferences and presentations.

The microphone captures the voice with outstanding intelligibility while maintaining natural and detailed speech reproduction.

Pre-equalization optimized for chest placement

The DPA 4080 is acoustically pre-equalized with a boost of about 4 dB between 4 and 6 kHz. This feature is designed to optimize sound output when the microphone is placed on the chest, improving voice clarity and speech understanding.

The extended frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz ensures full reproduction of the sound spectrum, while the dynamic range of about 108 dB allows even major dynamic variations in the voice to be handled with precision.

Discreet design and professional construction

The compact design with a diameter of only 5.7 mm makes the microphone extremely discreet, ideal for video and TV productions where visibility of the microphone must be minimized.

The clip system with built-in shock mount allows full rotation of the microphone, enabling use on both left and right button shirts. The microphone also comes with black and white anti-pop filters to visually match different types of clothing.

Compatibility with professional wireless systems

With its MicroLock connector and DPA's modular adapter system, the 4080 can be used with most professional wireless systems. With the DAD9001 XLR adapter it can be powered via 48V phantom power, offering great flexibility in usage configurations.
