The SPL DMC All Black is a stereo mastering console designed from the ground up by SPL, offering greater flexibility, improved ergonomics, and better specifications than the manufacturer’s previous console. Its 3-rack-unit size makes it suitable for any type of studio cabinet, while inside you’ll find input management, an insert chain, recording outputs, and a complete monitor controller. Like all processors in the SPL Mastering series, it operates on a 120 V DC audio power supply, delivering headroom and dynamic range that meet the demands of even the most exacting mastering studios.

SPL 120V Technology with Fifth-Generation SUPRA Operational Amplifiers

The DMC’s audio path operates at 120 V DC thanks to SPL’s proprietary SUPRA operational amplifiers, now in their fifth generation. The maximum output level reaches +32.5 dBu: even the most dynamic masters pass through the console with ample headroom, without the internal stages coming close to saturation. For you, this means detailed and reliable listening—the foundation for making mastering decisions.

Inputs, Inserts, and Recording Outputs of the Mastering Console

The DMC accepts 4 stereo inputs and 4 stereo sources, allowing you to control DAWs, reference players, and recorders directly from the panel. Input and insert return trims are adjustable in 0.25 dB steps—a level of precision essential for aligning levels across processing chains and master versions. The two stereo recording outputs feature a switchable ±10 dB gain control to properly drive the capture converter.

Loudness Compensation for Reliable Comparisons

Comparing at different levels almost always leads to a preference for the louder version. The DMC offers loudness compensation between inputs and output, as well as between pre- and post-insert, so you can evaluate the true effect of your processing chain at the same perceived volume.

Automatic bypass with adjustable interval

The automatic bypass function alternates between the processed and original signals at an interval you can set, allowing for repeated A/B comparisons without having to constantly press a button—so you can focus entirely on listening.

Integrated monitor controller for speakers, subwoofers, and headphones

The monitoring section handles 3 stereo outputs and 2 mono outputs for main monitors, alternative speaker sets, a subwoofer, and a mono control speaker (such as a radio). The subwoofer can be assigned to a single set of speakers, so it remains active only where needed. The direct output for Phonitor allows you to connect an SPL headphone amplifier and switch between listening through headphones and speakers without changing the signal chain.

Multichannel Expansion with SPL MC16

When connected to the SPL MC16 controller, the DMC transfers control of the L/R and subwoofer volume to the MC16 and extends monitoring to multichannel, without the need to rewire the speakers.

Metering and GPI Outputs

The stereo and mono metering outputs feed your external metering devices, while the GPI function controls devices such as talkback or a red recording light directly from the console.

All Black Version

The All Black version offers the same features as the DMC in an all-black finish, designed to blend into mastering suites with a dark aesthetic.
