Elektron Digitone II: 16-voice digital polyphonic synthesizer

Elektron Digitone II represents the ultimate evolution of FM synthesis according to Elektron. This 16-voice multitimbral desktop synthesizer combines sound power, modular workflow and advanced sequencer in a single machine designed for production, sound design and live performance.

With 16 tracks freely assignable to synthesis engines or MIDI, Digitone II radically expands the original Digitone concept, offering more polyphony, new synthesis machines, and even deeper control over modulation and performance.

Four synthesis machines for different sound universes

Wavetone and Swarmer: evolved oscillators and super saw

Wavetone reinterprets the classic two-oscillator synth with waveform morphing, phase distortion, and detailed noise control. Swarmer, on the other hand, brings in rich, layered super-saw-style textures with detune and advanced modulation controls for dense, cinematic sounds.

FM Tone and FM Drum: the FM legacy pushed further

FM Tone takes and expands on Elektron's celebrated FM engine with multiple algorithms and refined timbral control. FM Drum offers extremely flexible percussive synthesis, capable of generating complex kicks, snares and percussion as well as surprising melodic timbres.

Modularity, advanced filters and deep modulation

Digitone II integrates six selectable filter machines (Multi-Mode, Lowpass 4, Equalizer, Comb-, Comb+, Legacy LP/HP) as well as a base-width filter per voice that can be placed in the audio chain. Each voice has a dedicated envelope (ADSR or AHD) and as many as 3 assignable LFOs with multiple destinations.

The modulation system includes controls for pitch bend, velocity, key tracking, mod wheel, breath control and aftertouch, each with four independently assignable destinations.

Elektron 128-step sequencer and Euclidean mode

The sequencer is the beating heart of the instrument: 128 steps per pattern and track, Parameter Lock, micro-timing, trig conditions, probability, retrig and Euclidean generator for mathematically complex patterns. Arpeggiator per track and advanced Note Edit allow total control over chords, velocity and timing.

Song Mode allows you to build complete sets by concatenating patterns, ideal for live performances or structured productions directly from the hardware.

Professional effects and total control

Digitone II offers high-quality send effects: Saturator Delay, Supervoid Reverb, and Panoramic Chorus. Each voice also has dedicated overdrive, bit reduction and sample rate reduction. At the master level we find stereo compressor with sidechain capability and global overdrive.

Full connectivity and studio integration

Featuring balanced inputs and outputs, high-speed USB 2.0, MIDI In/Out/Thru with DIN Sync and Overbridge support, Digitone II integrates seamlessly into any modern studio or hybrid hardware/software setup. All 16 tracks are MIDI compatible with assignable CCs and dedicated LFOs.
