Tonverk is a machine designed for adventure: a polyphonic multisampler and audio processor that invites you to capture, transform, and reveal sound in ever new ways. Eight stereo audio tracks, a deep routing architecture, and a huge effects park make it an instrument that can be both workstation and creative maze, perfect for contemporary electronics, sound design, and performance.
Tonverk has 8 audio tracks that you can use in different ways depending on your sound destination. Added to these are additional tracks dedicated to bus, send and mix, ready for intensive routing and shared processing with new "FX flavors." All 16 tracks have their own sequencer, with the possibility of up to 256 steps per pattern and independent lengths per track.
The basis of sound creation starts with four machines (plus one for MIDI). Single Player plays stereo one-shots polyphonically, with start/end/loop and crossfade management for perfectly seamless loops. Multi Player loads multisampled instruments, with included library and ability to create your own instruments via Auto Sampler. Subtracks lets you load a sample for each key on the bottom row of the keyboard: one track becomes eight Subtracks that can be played together, each with filters, envelopes and modulations. Grainer fragments the sample into grains and recomposes it into continuous textures, rhythms, and layers, with parameters for density, random, spread, direction, and Play Modes ranging from pad drifting to stutter synced to tempo. All with a polyphonic structure of up to eight voices and eight grains per voice.
You can sample classically with Recorder (internal or external) or use Auto Sampler: connect a synth via MIDI and let Tonverk automatically record notes and velocity layers to create a multisample. You can also sample via USB from apps and software sources, making it easy to bring any audio material into the box.
Tonverk is an "effects beast": it offers lots of effects, including new algorithms and Elektron classics, as well as several filters. Modulation is everywhere: each audio track has LFOs for voice, LFOs for FX and a modulation envelope for voice; bus, send and mix add additional LFOs. The sequencer pushes Elektron logic to the max with polyphonic sequencing, parameter locks, trig conditions/chance, microtiming, and even p-locks on routing to change routings continuously or instantaneously.
