The WesAudio ng76 Stereo Pair is a pair of analog FET compressors designed to offer the classic sonic character of 1176-style compressors along with modern digital integration capabilities. Each unit maintains an all-analog audio path, while digital control allows automation, recall of settings, and full integration with leading DAWs.

FET compressors have been one of the most widely used tools in professional recording studios for decades because of their speed and aggressive, musical sonic character. The Stereo Pair version of the ng76 includes two perfectly matched units that can be connected via dedicated software to achieve precise and consistent stereo compression.

The system allows parameters between the two compressors to be synchronized and compression detectors to be linked to ensure stable stereo behavior, ideal for mix bus, subgroup, or mastering applications.

Fast compression and analog character

Based on the WesAudio Beta76 design, the ng76 offers the classic, extremely fast FET compression that has defined the sound of countless productions. Selectable compression ratios include 4:1, 8:1, 12:1 and 20:1, as well as the famous ALL BUTTON MODE for more aggressive and creative behavior.

Carnhill transformers for vintage sound

Both input and output stages use Carnhill transformers, prized for their contribution to analog sound character. These transformers add natural harmonic saturation and timbral depth, making the compressor especially musical on vocals, drums, and mix buses.

Parallel compression and analog saturation

The MIX knob makes it easy to use parallel compression, allowing you to dose the amount of compressed signal while maintaining the impact of the original signal. This technique is popular in modern production to increase punch and presence without losing dynamics.

Saturation mode and THD control

The ng76 includes a dedicated saturation mode based on the FET circuit. A single control adjusts input and output in opposite directions, turning the compressor also into an effective analog saturator or clipper. The THD control also allows you to add harmonic distortion with LOW or HIGH modes.

Vintage and Modern modes

The compressor offers two input configurations to suit different sound contexts:

Vintage Mode

Transformer-balanced input to achieve the classic warm and colorful character of the historic revisions of the 1176 compressor.

Modern Mode

Electronically balanced input for a cleaner, more transparent and precise sound.

Advanced Sidechain EQ

Sidechain circuit includes two independent sections for accurate control of compressor behavior:

• High Pass filter at 60Hz, 90Hz and 150Hz to preserve low frequencies.
• High Shelf filter at 2kHz, 5kHz and 10kHz to control high frequencies

Full integration with DAW and Total Recall

With plug-in control compatible with VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and AAX DSP, the ng76 allows all settings to be instantly saved and recalled within working sessions.

Analog automation also allows you to automate parameters directly from the DAW or record automations via the device's touch-sensitive encoders.

USB and Ethernet connection

Control of the device can be via direct USB connection or through the local network via Ethernet, providing flexibility in modern studio setups.
