Beads: The New Frontier of Granular Synthesis

Mutable Instruments Beads is a reinvention of the celebrated Clouds module, designed to deliver a wider, sharper and more modulable sound palette. It processes stereo audio signals in real time, creating textures, delays, effects, or acting as a stand-alone sound source thanks to internal wavetables.

Total Control, Creative Randomization

Every bead parameter (time, size, shape, pitch) is controllable via CV or randomizable thanks to built-in attenurandomizers. Beads generates grains in latched, gated or clocked mode, with options for clock division and diffusion. FREEZE mode freezes the audio buffer for deep sound explorations.

Integrated Delay and Reverb, No Mode to Change

Beads also acts as an advanced stereo delay with pitch control, tap tempo, feedback and reverb, without having to change modes. The feedback path is 1-sample latency for immediate and accurate sound. Independent knobs manage mix, feedback and reverb, each assignable to CV inputs.

Hi-Fi or Lo-Fi Audio: Your Choice.

Four audio quality modes are available: 48kHz 16-bit for maximum fidelity, Clouds emulation at 32kHz 12bit, hi-fi dry mode at 24kHz 12bit, and "cassette" emulation with vintage character. Each mode also affects the character of the reverb and processed signal.
