Waldorf Quantum MK2

16-Voice Hybrid Synthesiser

When Waldorf introduced Quantum in 2018, it was immediately appreciated by studios and the most acclaimed film composers, producers, musicians and sound designers. Now, 5 years later, Waldorf has updated their formidable synthesizer with the new Quantum MK2 version.

Quantum MK2 has been updated with a 61-key Fatar keyboard featuring polyphonic aftertouch, sampling memory increased to 59GB, improved body design and display, new firmware 3.0 allows up to 16 voices by combining the 8 analog filters with 8 additional digital filters.

61 Fatar TP8/SK keys with poly aftertouch

Quantum MK2 is the first instrument in the world to adopt a 61-key Fatar TP8/SK polyphonic aftertouch keyboard. With greater possibilities for musical and gestural expression, the new keyboard lets you utilize the massive modulation capabilities of Quantum MK2’s synthesis engine. It’s a next level of expression based on a traditional keyboard that maintains the player’s playing capabilities and extends them with further elements of control and creativity.

Highly customizable aftertouch

Polyphonic aftertouch is highly customizable in multiple dimensions globally as well as for individual keys. The high resolution graphical display supports visual feedback and control for the customization process. In addition to its own poly aftertouch keyboard, Quantum MK2 can be controlled with any MPE compatible controller by plugging it directly into the Quantum MK2 USB host port.

16 voices of polyphony, digital and analog filters

Based on an 8-voice dual analog filter architecture, Quantum MK2 has been updated to provide polyphony of up to 16 voices in any combination of using the dual digital multimode filters with the 8 analog. Additionally, the combination of analog and digital filters opens up new sonic possibilities for what Waldorf Music has been known for since the beginning: hybrid digital and analog synthesis. A new set of allocation modes give the player easy control.

59GB sampling memory

Another important aspect of Quantum MK2 is the increased sampling memory, which increases from a few GB to 59 GB. Thanks to its advanced sampling capabilities, Quantum has quickly become the tool of choice for sound enthusiasts and film composers from Berlin to Los Angeles. Since firmware 1.0 to the current 3.0, Waldorf has taken into account the needs of musicians to enhance the polyphonic granular sampling engine and the traditional multisample one.

Design and displays

The updated mechanical design and elegant navy blue offer the player an instrument of incredible beauty and inspiration. New high-resolution touch display offers a wider viewing angle and new, intuitive ways to control Quantum MK2’s advanced synthesis features

Sounds and sound samples

Acclaimed sound designers from around the world helped build the huge library of factory presets and 2GB of sound sample content that comes with the unit. Waldorf Music is proud to collaborate with sound designers such as Richard Devine, Howard Scarr, Reinhold Heil, BT, Matt Johnson, Joerg Huettner, Kevin Schroeder, Sascha Dikiciyan, Kurt Ader, Mike Huckaby, Thorsten Quaeschning and many more. All sounds are also compatible with Waldorf’s Iridium instruments, both ways.

Synthesis platform

Waldorf has updated the Quantum firmware with new synthesis capabilities and functionality requested by musicians. The Quantum and Iridium firmwares build a true “Waldorf synthesis platform”.
