The Gainlab Audio Lieutenant is much more than just a monitor controller: it is a true command station designed to optimize workflow in recording, mixing, mastering, and music production studios. Thanks to its advanced architecture, it allows you to manage audio sources, reference monitors, studio communication, and power from a single intuitive interface.
Designed to be the operational heart of the studio, Lieutenant allows you to select up to four different audio sources and route them to three independent listening systems. Volume control via a relay-based attenuator ensures absolute precision, perfect repeatability of settings, and maximum sonic transparency.
Available sources include two balanced stereo analog inputs, an S/PDIF/TOSLINK digital input, and an integrated Bluetooth connection, offering maximum flexibility for any modern setup.
The three balanced stereo outputs allow you to connect different pairs of monitors and easily compare mixes. The calibration system allows you to automatically or manually compensate for level differences between speakers, ensuring accurate comparisons without perceived volume variations.
The Pad function instantly reduces the listening level by a preset amount, while the Mute command allows you to completely silence the output with a single button. Essential tools during recording and mixing sessions.
The Focus function isolates specific areas of the audio spectrum, allowing you to listen to low, mid, or high frequencies separately. This feature is particularly useful during mixing, mastering, and quality control.
Lieutenant integrates a professional Talkback system and an independent Cue Loop with a dedicated headphone output. This configuration facilitates communication between the control room and the recording room and makes managing recording sessions with musicians and performers more efficient.
A second master headphone output is also available for direct monitoring by the sound engineer.
One of the most unique features of the Gainlab Audio Lieutenant is the integrated power sequencer, designed to manage the powering on and off of equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

Power-up can be automated following a configurable sequence, preventing power surges and potential damage to equipment. Power-down also follows an intelligent logic, first turning off the monitors and then the rest of the audio chain.
