From Neve's historic line of compressors-from the 2252 to the early 2254 modules-comes theAMS Neve 2254R, a 19" rack-mount format version designed to integrate easily into any professional studio. This model keeps the original 1969 circuit intact, bringing it into the 21st century with sturdy construction and elegant design.
The 2254R uses specific Marinair® transformers on all input, bridge-driver, sidechain and output stages, faithfully reproducing the smooth, musical timbre that made the original 2254 famous. Each component is carefully selected to ensure maximum sonic fidelity and unique character.
Based on Rupert Neve's original design, the diode bridge circuit allows for natural and controlled compression curves. This configuration allows for an extremely wide range of compressions: from soft and transparent reduction to a stronger and more colorful effect.
Entirely built with discrete Class A circuitry, the 2254R retains the construction philosophy of the early Neve models, offering pure and dynamic audio quality. Each unit is hand-built in Burnley, UK, to Neve's original specifications.
The 2254R offers complete control over signal dynamics: limiter and compressor are independent, with attack and release adjustable manually or in automatic mode. Multiple units can be connected for group operation, while Neve Total Recall™ software allows settings to be saved and recalled via USB.
The moving-coil meter can be assigned to various points in the signal chain, including inputs, outputs and gain reduction. A dual-color LED indicates signal level (-10 dBu) and clipping (+25 dBu), ensuring accurate monitoring during each session.
