The Universal Audio Apollo x16D Gen 2 Complete is an 18 x 20 rack-mount Thunderbolt 3 audio interface designed for networked recording studios, live sound systems, professional installations, broadcast, and Dante®-based audio productions. With 16 Dante channels, Apollo X 24-bit/192 kHz conversion, and a HEXA Core DSP processor, it allows you to record, mix, and process audio in real time using Universal Audio’s renowned plug-ins.

The Complete version includes over 200 UAD plug-ins for recording, mixing, mastering, sound design, and music production. The bundle includes emulations of preamps, channel strips, compressors, equalizers, reverbs, tape recorders, amplifiers, virtual instruments, and processors used in the world’s leading recording studios.

Universal Audio Apollo x16D with Dante Audio Networking

The Apollo x16D brings the Universal Audio workflow to Dante® audio networks. Its 16 channels of Dante I/O allow you to easily integrate the interface with digital consoles, broadcast systems, live event setups, multi-room studios, and professional audio networks.

Compatibility with AES67 at 48 kHz simplifies integration with compatible network systems, while the Thunderbolt connection allows you to use the Apollo x16D as part of a professional Apollo system for Mac or Windows.

HEXA Core DSP and Real-Time UAD Plug-Ins

The built-in HEXA Core DSP processor allows you to use UAD plug-ins with extremely low latency during recordings, concerts, events, and mixing sessions. Compressors, equalizers, channel strips, reverbs, delays, pitch correction, and creative effects can be inserted directly into the signal path.

Processing is handled by the interface’s internal DSP, reducing the load on the computer’s CPU and providing a stable, reliable system even during live performances and particularly complex productions.

UAD Complete Bundle with Over 200 Plug-Ins

The Apollo x16D Gen 2 Complete offers one of the most extensive software packages available for the Universal Audio platform. The bundle includes over 200 DSP and Native plug-ins dedicated to tracking, mixing, mastering, music production, post-production, and sound design.

The collection includes emulations of gear from Neve, API, SSL, Manley, Avalon, Teletronix, Fairchild, Pultec, Studer, Ampex, Lexicon, and many other legendary brands, along with virtual instruments, recording environments, guitar and bass amplifiers, and extensions for LUNA.

Plug-In Scenes for Live Sound and Professional Installations

The UAD Console app provides a powerful management environment for inputs, outputs, routing, monitoring, and plug-in chains. Plug-In Scenes let you quickly save and recall complete configurations, making it easy to adapt processing to different parts of a performance.

Scenes can also be recalled via MIDI, allowing you to change settings without interrupting the concert or session. This feature makes the Apollo x16D particularly well-suited for tours, festivals, venues, theaters, and complex live productions.

Apollo X 24-bit / 192 kHz Audio Conversion

Apollo X conversion delivers precise, transparent, and detailed reproduction up to 24-bit / 192 kHz. The Apollo x16D maintains the sound quality required by recording studios, broadcast installations, and professional live sound systems, preserving the signal’s dynamics, definition, and depth.

The AES stereo I/O also allows you to connect professional digital hardware and integrate the Apollo x16D with external converters, processors, and audio distribution systems.

Dante Expansion Up to 64 Channels

You can connect up to four Apollo x16D interfaces to build a 64-channel Dante system. Network redundancy increases the reliability of the infrastructure—a critical feature for live events, permanent installations, and productions where signal continuity is essential.

The Apollo x16D can also extend an existing Apollo Thunderbolt studio over Dante, allowing you to add rooms, recording stations, and new environments without having to replace the existing system.

Multi-Room Recording Studio via Ethernet

Thanks to the Dante network, any room with an Ethernet connection can be integrated into a distributed recording system. The Apollo x16D enables the creation of multi-room studios, remote recording rooms, separate control rooms, and hybrid configurations for recording and post-production.

Network routing allows you to distribute signals across different rooms while maintaining centralized management and the ability to use UAD plug-ins in real time.

Surround monitoring and immersive audio up to 9.1.6

After a live performance or network recording, the Apollo x16D can be used in the studio as a monitoring hub for stereo, surround, and immersive configurations up to 9.1.6.

Support for 16-channel immersive audio mixes allows you to work with Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, Sony 360 Reality Audio, and other multichannel formats, using the same interface during both recording and post-production.

ALT Monitoring for Stereo and Immersive Audio

The Apollo x16D supports alternate monitors in all operating modes. You can manage two ALT systems in a stereo configuration or one ALT system while monitoring immersive audio, offering greater flexibility when checking mixes.
