Elektron Syntakt

12-voice drum machine, synthesizer, sequencer and groove machine

All your sound creation, sequencing and performance needs are met, in an all-round, practical, lightweight and compact mega music box. Syntakt is a drum specialist, full of percussive possibilities, but its four analog tracks and eight digital tracks can also be used for melody, harmony and bass sounds. Experience the epic sounds of the past, dragging others from the future to the present.

There are 35 Sound Generating Machines to tap into and covering a wide range of drum and melodic sounds. Some Machines have been reinvented by Analog Rytm and Model: Cycles but with more control, while others are completely new. In order for you to create and customize your own sound, Syntakt provides a series of parameter controls tailored to each Machine.
They allow you to quickly change the nature of each type of sound, showing you only the relevant options. Complete without being intrusive. Go wild with analog or digital overdrive, depending on the songs you’re playing.

The graphics also play their part, with many animated icons offering visual guidance and greater clarity on how each parameter affects the sound. After all, the joys of tweaking shouldn’t be just for the ears. Syntakt allows you to route any synth track or external audio source through the FX block.
This gives you access to analog distortion and filtering, and a pair of LFOs to modulate it all with. What’s more, you can also take advantage of Delay and Reverb as powerful send effects.

And all the above effects can be sequenced with the FX track. Get them into action at the right time. Add accents and drastic changes to selected tracks or external audio. Or use it as a master track for ducking and gating effects. Add some extra skill by using the four modifiers for further levels of expression.
Configure the first two to get the Retrig or Velocity behavior you want and use the other two to access the custom intensities of other parameters. They are ready for action no matter what synth track you are using. And best of all, they not only give you extra fun while playing, but you can also capture the moment by recording the movements in the sequencer.

Syntakt’s keyboard mode gives you lots of different scales to play with. Some are familiar and some perhaps a little less and to experiment, and allow you to explore new horizons by taking your compositions to another level. It plays on a single octave like on a piano keyboard. Or use Fold and arrange several octaves. Syntakt is full of great filters and envelopes.

All tracks have a multimode filter that lets you emphasize different parts of your sound, with digital tracks being able to call up parametric EQ as well, and a base-width filter – an additional filter that gives you even more sonic control. Choose between two types of amplitude envelopes to define the ideal contour of your sound. Try the ADSR envelope – for your wicked synth lines – or the simpler AHD envelope – perfect for transient percussive sounds.

All synth tracks have two fully featured LFOs with multiple waveforms and modulation destinations. Set your sounds in motion, subtly or harshly, by modulating the envelope width, volume, filter, synth engine settings and even the other LFO; pretty much any parameter you like. Then redefine space and time with a dose of reverb and delay.

The top-tier 64-step sequencer lets you create dynamic soundscapes by controlling both structure and sound to a level that is like a musical instrument in itself. Simply holding down any step and changing any parameter on it is an ultra-fast and detailed way to sequence, or go wild and record your live adventures. Build your composition one tonal gradient at a time or record every adjustment you make in real time. Some call it Swedish sequencing. Elektron calls it Parameter Lock.

If you want to invite your other instruments to Syn City, they are more than welcome. You can assign a MIDI device to any of 12 synth tracks, with four-note polyphony, LFOs and more. Syntakt is also ready and able to connect to Class Compliant devices, which means it can easily connect to computers, smartphones or tablets for USB and MIDI audio. Syntakt comes with an amazing sound library to create your story with.

There are over 1000 presets to immerse yourself in immediately, allowing you to find musical inspiration right from the start. With such possibilities at your fingertips, the only certainty is that you will never run out of ideas. Syntakt is Overbridge ready. Syntakt and Overbridge together enable the integration of a compact, affordable and flexible drum computer and synthesizer with the power of a computer-based rig.
