Korg ARP Odyssey Rev3 37-Slim Key Duophonic Analog Synthesizer (used)

37-key duophonic analog synthesizer with travel bag

ARP Odyssey was an analog synthesizer originally produced by the American manufacturer ARP Instrument Inc. that quickly gained a wide following among musicians because of its technological content, its ease of use, and its portability

the ARP Odyssey underwent several improvements throughout its history and continued to be sold for a long time, until production was discontinued in 1981 due to the company’s financial difficulties, and the ever-widening spread of digital technology. Loved by so many musicians and considered a classic historical instrument, its sounds can be appreciated in the greatest musical masterpieces of the period.

Now in 2015, KORG is bringing the ARP Odyssey back into the modern era, with the assistance and advice of David Friend, the co-founder of ARP Instruments. The team of engineers from KORG and ARP combined, faithfully recreated the original electronic circuitry, succeeding in fully restoring the sound and feel of the vintage instrument. To stay true to the original quality, no detail was overlooked, even the making of its semi-hard case. This is for the benefit of all those musicians who are fond of classic analog sounds.

Complete reconstruction of the original electronics

The original ARP Odyssey was a duo-phonic instrument with 2VCO. Its most distinctive timbral characteristic was a decisive, penetrating sound with a rich tonal harmonic range and a variety of functions and modulations, provided by the SYNC between oscillators, SAMPLE&HOLD, PULSE WIDTH MODULATION, HI PASS filter, two types of envelope generators, and Pitch Bend, capable of versatile generation of a wide range of sounds.

The sophisticated circuitry components of the current ARP Odyssey faithfully produce the timbral character of these elements. Under the direct supervision of David Friend, all parts were carefully selected, and every detail was adjusted to replicate the synthesis and distinctive sound quality of the original unit.
