Universal Audio 6176 (used)

Channel strip with the 610B tube microphone preamp and the legendary 1176LN compressor

The 6176 includes a 610B tube mic preamp and an 1176LN compressor.
Too often the audio quality in modern digital recording and mixing systems is seriously compromised by the input stages. Many users who demand the power and flexibility of today’s digital technology, however, find the desire to return to the warmth and tones of hand-built equipment that were used in the past. Now with the 6176, Universal Audio for the first time combines the much acclaimed 610 tube preamp with the legendary 1176LN compressor in order to create a single channel suitable for any type of application.

The 6176 features a microphone input with variable impedance at 500 ohms or 2K ohms and a selectable high impedance input at 2.2 Meg ohms or 47K ohms useful for instruments such as guitar, bass etc. The ratio knob in the compressor section also features the ‘ALL’ position, the very famous ‘British mode’ which indicated pressing all the ratio buttons of the 1176LN for extreme compression.
